Which pass do I need to buy if my birthday happens before departure?
You may have a birthday between the time of purchase and the time of travel. If this places you in a more expensive age category, you must purchase the pass for the new category.
Example 1:
It's May 10th and you'll be 27 years old when you purchase the pass. You plan to travel on June 20th, but you'll turn 28 on June 5th. So at the time of travel you'll be 28 years old. You're therefore purchasing a pass for the age category 28 - 59.
If your birthday occurs during your trip, you'll need to purchase the pass for the new age category as well.
Example 2:
You'
re 27 years old and plan to go Interrailing from 10 to 20 June. On 15 June (during your trip) you'll turn 28. So, you buy a pass for the age category 28 - 59.
Will you turn 60 between the time of purchase and the trip? Then you may purchase the pass in advance for the senior fare.
Will you turn 60 during your journey (as in example 2)? Then you still need to purchase the pass for the 28 - 59 year old fare.
