For delays of 60 minutes or more, you can to request compensation from many rail operators. Check your ticket which operator it's from to request compensation from the correct carrier.
This page only concerns tickets and Eurail passes as bought via Happyrail. If delays occur during your Rail Tour, please contact us about your Rail Tour first.
Deutsche Bahn (Germany)
Follow the steps and fill out the form on the website. DB will then contact you as soon as possible about compensation.
Eurostar (United Kingdom, France, Belgium, NL)
Fill out the form on the website. Please note: Eurostar only compensates with vouchers. You'll receive these by e-mail as soon as possible after your request.
Eurail / Interrail reservations (Europe)
For delays during a journey in which you used a Eurail / Interrail pass, a small compensation may be possible. You can apply for compensation via the form on the website. Interrail will then contact you as soon as possible.
Italo (Italy)
Fill in the form on the website. Italo will then contact you as soon as possible about the compensation.
NS (Netherlands)
For compensation for delays longer than 30 minutes during a train journeys= within the Netherlands, please contact NS using the contact form. Your claim can be submitted under "not using a MijnNS account".
ÖBB (Austria)
Please fill out the form on the website. ÖBB will then contact you as soon as possible.
SNCF (France)
Different conditions to apply for different French train types, but compensations are usually possible from 30 minutes of delay. Read about the different conditions and access the form to claim compensation on this website. SNCF will contact you as soon as possible.
- On OUIGO low-cost trains compensation works differently and only in the form of a voucher that can be spent on OUIGO trains. Read about the conditions on the SNCF website under 'Ouigo'.
- For regional trains in France (TER) you will need to contact the regional TER operator instead of SNCF. Follow the instructions on the SNCF website.
Renfe (Spain)
Compensations can be requested from Renfe from 60 minutes of delay. This can be done using the form on this website. Renfe will then contact you as soon as possible.
SBB (Switzerland)
Follow the steps on the website to request compensation. SBB will then contact you as soon as possible.
- For Rhätische Bahn trains (Grisons, Bernina Express) fill in the form on the RhB website.
- For MOB trains (GoldenPass), fill in the form on the MOB website.
SJ (Sweden)
You can apply for compensation by following the steps on the website. SJ will then contact you as soon as possible.
Trenitalia (Italy)
Compensation can be requested from 30 minutes of delay for Frecce trains and from 60 minutes for other trains. Please fill in the form on the website. Trenitalia will contact you as soon as possible after your request.
VY (Norway)
