I want to take my bike on the train

Due to the huge impact of the coronavirus, in 2022 we can only make bike reservations for the night train from the Netherlands to Switzerland for dates starting in mid-August. You can select the option to take bikes with you on the booking form.

Taking the bike with you to another destination is unfortunately not possible with us at the moment. We expect to come up with improved (online) booking options for train & bike across Europe by the end of 2022. We'll post a news item on our website as soon as this is possible again.
For now, please refer to the following pages/booking options for bike on the train. For all regional trains in Europe, our advice is to book the tickets locally to save booking fees.

Austria: Bikes are allowed on almost all trains with a bike ticket, see this page for more information.

Czech Republic: Bikes are allowed on almost all trains with a bike ticket. For information see this page.

Denmark: Bikes are allowed on long-distance trains for a fee and free on S-tog trains around Copenhagen. Reservations required in summer for long-distance trains. See this page for more information.

France (incl. TGV): Bicycles are allowed on almost all trains; regional trains free, IC and TGV trains for a fee. For full information see this page from SNCF.

France (Thalys): Currently not possible, only from end 2022. Bicycles can only be taken if the front wheel has been removed, see this page for more information.

Germany (Incl. travel through Germany to Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic & Denmark): This page from DB (in German) has all the information about taking bikes on the train and booking tickets. Long distance trains are "Fernverkehr". Currently possible in all regional trains, all IC trains but only some ICE trains.

Hungary: Bikes are allowed on almost all trains with a bike ticket. For information on international trains see this page, for national trains see this page.
Italy (Incl. International trains Switzerland-Italy vv): Bikes are allowed on all regional trains, on long-distance trains under conditions. See this page (Trenitalia) or this page (Italo) for more information.
Spain: Bikes are allowed only dismantled on high-speed trains, but always normally on all normal long-distance and regional trains. Sometimes free, sometimes a ticket is required, depending on the train category. See this page for all information.
Sweden: Bicycles are often not allowed on Swedish trains, only on some local trains. On long distance trains only disassembled, see this page for more information.
Switzerland Bikes along on the Nightjet Netherlands-Switzerland can be booked along with Nightjet tickets using this booking form, for all other trains in Switzerland see this page.

United Kingdom (Eurostar): Bikes along currently almost not possible, see all conditions and information here.

United Kingdom: Bikes are allowed on all trains for free in principle, with a limited number of spots on some long-distance trains where a reservation is required. Check if this applies to your train journey on the website of your train's operator (Such as GWR, Avanti, London Midland, Virgin West Coast, etc.)
