Where do French sleeper trains run?

Various comfortable sleeper trains, branded 'Intercités de nuit', run from Paris to various destinations in the south of France. All sleeper trains depart from Paris Austerlitz station, accessible by metro and within walking distance of Gare du Lyon station.

French sleeper train connections (as of 2024):
  • Paris - Latour-De-Carol; runs daily. For the Andorra and Pyrenees regions. In Latour-de-Carol, there are connections for the historic and spectacular 'Train Jaune' and regional trains to Vic and Barcelona (Spain).
  • Paris-Toulouse; daily. For Cahors, Montauban and Toulouse, connections to Carcassone and Narbonne.
  • Paris-Lourdes; daily. For Tarbes and Lourdes. Connection in Tarbes to Pau.
  • Paris-Nice; daily. For Marseille, Toulon, Cannes, Antibes in Nice. Connections in Nice for Monaco and Ventimille/Ventimiglia (border with Italy).
  • Paris-Braincon; not daily. For Gap and Briancon in the French Alps.
  • Paris-Aurillac; not daily. For Aurillac and the Aubrac region, connectins to Saint-Flour.
  • Paris-Hendaye; only in in July and August. For Pau, Bayonne, and Hendaye. Arrival in Hendaye 10:40, connection to Euskotren metro to Irun and Bilbao (Spain).
  • Paris-Cerbère; only in July and August. For Narbonne, Perpignan and Spain. Connections to Figueres, Girona and Barcelona.

What are the trains like?

The trains are comfortable and feature three classe: second class seating, second class 6-person sleeper berths, and first class 4-person sleeper berths. Reservations are mandatory. Tickets and reservations can be booked via the Happyrail rail planner.

  • Second class seating is identical to daytime Intercités trains, and feature simple but comfortable seats with air conditioning and plug sockets.

  • Second class sleeping berths feature 6 beds in each berth and include bedding, water and a small toiletries kit. A berth can be booked for private use, called Espace Privatif.
  • First class sleeping berths feature 4 beds in each berth and include bedding, water and a small toiletries kit. The beds are slightly softer and wider than in second class. Like in second class a berth can be booked for private use, called Espace Privatif.
